CIS College Bound Students Visit Camp Ramapo

On Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19, 2013 - Chess-in-the-Schools took a group of College Bound students to Camp Ramapo in Rhinebeck, NY for a weekend retreat.

Through direct service youth programs and highly regarded training programs for adults, Camp Ramapo works on behalf of children who face obstacles to learning, including children with special needs, enabling them to succeed in the classroom, at home, and in life.

Each summer a group of Chess-in-the-Schools students work as chess teaching counselors in the camp and specialize in teaching chess to the camp members.

This past weekend students interested in working at Ramapo this summer received a tour of the camp grounds, participated in fun activities and enjoyed the beautiful grounds of Camp Ramapo, which for NYC students is a wonderful experience!

Check back to our website this summer as we will have photos and stories from our students' experiences at Camp Ramapo.
