Summer Chess Camps

Summer chess programs offer kids a great chance to learn and play or to improve their game. This summer, Chess in the Schools is offering programs in schools and community-based organization sites, helping to provide a safe, fun, and educational activity for kids around the city. Chess in the Schools is also providing a chess program at Camp Ramapo Anchorage in Rhinebeck, New York - a summer camp for disadvantaged New York City children with special needs. More than 600 children learn chess there each summer.

The 2016 Chess in the Schools (CIS) Summer Camps have ended. CIS ran four summer camps in the following schools this summer (48M, 126M, 335K, 160K). Over 250 students competed in this year's camps and we averaged 270+ at each of our four Friday summer tournaments at PS 160K.  This summer CIS plans to partner with DYCD to run chess programs within already existing camps throughout the city.  We will also run two private CIS only camps.  As such, there are no opportunities to register for CIS chess camps this summer.  Once we select our DYCD sites we will promote them on this site.

Please do not call or email the office to find out about camps.  All updates will be posted here.
