In June, Chess in the Schools hosted our End of Year Donor Appreciation Open House.
The room was filled with friends of Chess in the Schools, alumni, board members, students and staff. We even had a special guest join us, Ndaba Mandela, grandson of Nelson Mandela.
The night consisted of plenty of friendly competition at the chess boards, good food, and good conversation.
Everyone gathered around for an inspiring speech by Ndaba to end the night. Ndaba founded Africa Rising Foundation. He believes that every young person is capable of being a leader. Africa Rising will be a catalyst in creating a new breed of young Africans that will empower themselves to be at the forefront of Africa’s development.
Chess in the Schools looks forward to hosting these events to thank our donors! Because of YOU, every year we are able to serve 6,000 NYC students.
